Apparently took part in the failed Sagadahoc colony (1607-1608) in Maine, U.S.A., along with three of Sir Francis Popham's other sons-in-law, Thomas Horner Esq., Edward Rogers Esq., Roger Warre, and Captain George Popham.

(Reciting (1) Demise by John Malet, late of Enmore, Esq., deceased to John Bourne, Esq., since deceased, father of Roger, of the Manor of Curripoole and Tuxwell in Radlett with the appurtenances for 500 years. (2) Elizabeth Bourne wife and executrix of John, became on probate entitled to the premises, and her daughter Jane, who was her executrix and similarly became invested in them, assigned them to Roger), for £200 OF messuage and tenement with houses, edifices orchards, gardens curtilages and appurtenances (35a) in Radlett in the parish of Charlinsh, late in the tenure of Margarett Leave, widow, deceased, (timber trees reserved to Lessor) for 99 years determinable upon the lives of the said Edward Luttrell, Fraunces his mother, and Edward Bellamy of Spaxton, at 8/- pa rent payable half yearly at Michaelmas and Lady Day. Lessee to do suit of Court at lessor's Courts of the Manor of Currypoole and other services accustomed. Heriot or farleife, the best beast with proviso that it is not payable if Fraunces and Bellamy predecease Edward Luttrell or if Bellamy predeceases Fraunces. Leasee covenants to repair and maintain premises, including walling, timbering and covering, hedging and fencing for which lessor allows the taking of sufficient great timber trees growing on the premises and of 'hedgboote, fireboote freethboote and ploughboote' without delivery or making wast. If rent in whole or part is twenty days in arrears and no sufficient distress is found on the premises, or if lessee does any wilful wast to the value of 15/- in any one year, or assigns the premises or part for longer than a year at a time without leave of the lessor (except demise of lessee's whole estate to both or either of the other lives), then lessor has right of re-entry. Proviso that lessee has liberty to alter and exchange the lives within three years from date if the present lives are in perfect health, but if they are so changed in one year from date lessee is to pay lessor 20/-, if in two years 40/- and if in three years, £3.
