Individual Note: One of the founders of the Plymouth Bank, along with a member of the Culme family and John Barings Jr. John Were Clark joined the bank in 1823 after Jonathan Elford died. On Friday, Nov. 25, 1825 the bank closed it's doors, and the Elford family was forced to give up their family possessions including the Bickham estate to pay part of their debt.
