Note: a JAMES VEALE was in practice as a Doctor in Hatherleigh in 1665: Lambeth Palace. MS 639 ff 307,308 The house of JOHN VEALE of Hatherleigh was licensed 1672 as a Presbyterian meeting place. (Most clergymen who lost their parishes on the restoration of the monarchy continued as Presbyterian teachers or as licensed preachers).

Individual Note:
     In 1952 Burke's LG he lived at Queen Victoria Road, Claremount, South Africa.
James Harris Veale was a magistrate and Civil Commissioner in Humansdorp, Ladismith (Cape), Prieska (Appointed Civil Commissioner and Magistrate, Prieska, 1904.) and Kafue River, which was then in Northern Rhodesia, now Zambia. He retired to Rondebosch near Cape Town, where he died in 1937.
