Individual Note: Her full name was Mary Diana Strickland (FreeBMD gives a birthdate of Dec. 1883, in West Ham 4a 238; sister Agnes would have been born 1877 West Ham 4a 129), and she was the grand-niece of Agnes Strickland (Queens of England), Catherine Parr Strickland (Traill), and Susanna Strickland "Roughing it in the Bush) of the Strickland family of Reydon, Suffolk, England. In the 1901 census, her family lived in Woodford, Essex. She and Arthur named their farm in Rhodesia "Reydon". May have published a book in 1925 about a journey to the Congo. Painted life in the remote areas of Zambezi, where Arthur was in the Pioneer Corps Police. She had a sister, also a painter, named Agnes Strickland, who is named as a beneficiary, living at 51 Kingston Road, New Malden, Surrey.
